Amazon.com Product Description

Featuring a battery-operated monitor displaying speed, distance, time, calories burned, and heart rate, this two-in-one machine combines a recumbent bicycle and a rower for two types of low-impact strength and cardio workouts. Moving a pin switches from one mode to the other. In either bicycle or rower mode, magnetic resistance provides a quiet, smooth workout, whose intensity can be varied by turning an eight-position knob without interrupting a workout. A foam-padded seat glides on a ball-bearing roller system along an aluminum rail during rowing, and adjusts to fit different leg lengths for recumbent biking. For bicycling, oversized pedals and adjustable foot-straps hold feet securely to improve pulling motion, in addition to pushing motion. For rowing, a heavy-duty nylon strap and foam grips keep hands stable and comfortable. Assembled, the machine measures 74-1/4 inches long x 23-1/2 inches wide x 34 inches high and weighs 108 pounds. Folded for storage, it measures 34 inches long x 23-1/3 inches wide x 56-1/2 inches high.

About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Summary: Disappointed 2008-04-16
Comment: I ordered the Stamina Conversion II Recumbent Bike / Rower a while back. Shipment arrived fast, however the packaging looked beaten up and sure enough a piece of equipment was damaged beyond repair. Requested replacement and the second shipment not only had the same type of shipping damage, it also appeared to be a previously returned item from another customer. So I am returning the second shipment as well and requested a refund. Not sure if its related to the sipping company Amazon is using for this type of heavy equipment. Shipper is called CEVA and I have never heard of them before. Either way based on my experience I cannot recommend this item from Amazon, stay away, even though my feedback is really feedback on the suppliers ability to ship items and not the item itself. Happy Rowing ... with some other equipment ... purchased I don't know where yet.

Summary: We love it 2008-04-12
Comment: We are very pleased with this bike/rower. It shipped much faster than promised, was easy to assembly and is easy to operate. It is smooth sailing to use, and no trouble to switch exercises in the middle of a workout, which helps us stay at it for more than 30 minutes. And it is quite enough to use while the TV is on in the same room and not disturb anyone. We are very satisfied with our purchase.

Summary: Good for simple at home "non-exercise" 2008-03-13
Comment: This is a cheaply made product, but it's good if you want something simple to use at home. It's super silent, so if you're looking for a low to medium impact exercise that you can do while watching television or reading (if you don't mind holding the magazine or book up while you bike) Even on the highest resistance it isn't very hard to use. Very easy to put together & easy to change from bike to rower. It wasn't what I was hoping for when I bought it, but I'm glad that I have it. I probably would NOT recommend it to a friend.

Summary: Great 2008-02-28
Comment: All in all this is a great product, I had it put together in under two hours. It works well and offers a little bit of variety to your workout. Also, it folds enabling the unit to be pushed into a corner or against a wall for a more compact storage when not in use. Simple to use in every manner and great fun for those who enjoy biking or rowing.

Summary: i hate exersizing, but i like this machine.... 2008-01-15
Comment: i bought this last week after much thought and consideration. i am not in shape and have asthma to boot so i wanted something i would stick with. i am also one of those people who really appreciates multi-functionality. i hated the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on one machine that i would probably get tired of really fast, so this combination really appealed to me. i was however, kind of doubtful that something seemingly too good was worth the money, space, and effort. first of all, i am way too lazy and cheap to fork over $700 for this, so i bought mine used for about $300. it was in very good shape, minimally used. i inspected it and finally bought it and brought it home.

the machine itself is pretty handsome, as far as exercise machines go. it's low to the ground, narrow but long. it has a very comfortable seat and sitting in it with feet in straps is also pretty comfortable, kind of like sitting in a lowrider sportscar. it does have a couple of small wheels in the front to help move it around - otherwise it would be awkward and too heavy to pick up. i can easily move it from one location to another in my living room. wouldn't want to move it around too much anyways.

the ride is excellent. the seat switches easily and conveniently from bike to rower mode by turning the knob under the seat. the pedals and the seat all move with a very smooth and quiet motion. there's a tension knob right in front of you so that can be easily adjusted. the machine is steady on its feet and doesn't make a sound.

the computer however, has much to be desired. it's quite small, and simple which is good. but it doesn't work very well (the numbers don't all show up) and looks kind of crappy. the good news is - i don't really care how many minutes/miles/km/or whatever i am going. i just pedal or row. the computer is small enough that i don't care that it doesn't work, i am too busy exercising and watching tv.

this is a very good machine overall. biggest pro: quietness - biggest con: crappy computer. buy it used if you can.
