Amazon.com Product Description
Save money on monthly gym fees and get yourself in shape at the same time with the Schwinn Airdyne upright exercise bike. The Airdyne features a smooth, air-based resistance braking system along with a pair of sturdy exercise arms. The advantage of the unique air resistance system is that it offers as much resistance as you can handle.

The Airdyne's dual-action arms help you work out your entire body.
The harder you pedal, the greater the resistance. The dual-action design, meanwhile, synchronizes your arm and leg movements to simulate your natural motion, helping you work your upper and lower body at the same time. Finally, the air resistance system creates streams of cooling air while you pedal, making for a comfortable home workout.

The Airdyne includes a comprehensive computer console that provides feedback on time, distance, workload level, calories burned, calories per hour, heart rate, and RPM. As a result, it's easy to keep track of your overall fitness level. Other features include an extra-quiet chain drive system; built-in heart rate monitoring; an LCD display; an anatomically correct seat with extra padding; and a capacity of 300 pounds. The Airdyne measures 22.5 by 48 by 50 inches (W x H x D), weighs 96 pounds, and carries the following warranties: 30 years on the frame, three years on parts and electronics, and one year on labor and wear items.

Summary: Schwinn Airdyne Exercise Bike 2010-01-21
Comment: Schwinn Airdyne is of excellent quality. Directions for assembly could be better. Best to have two people to put it together. Does an excellent job of exercising both upper and lower body. Integrated fan keeps you cooled off. I would recommend this and would buy again. Purchased from Amazon at a very good price.

Summary: Highly recommended exercise bike! 2010-01-20
Comment: I purchased my Schwinn Airdyne over 18 years ago and can honestly say it has been used regularly as part of my cross training workouts. I am one of those who love to workout and try to do something every day. It provides a great cardiovascular workout and really helps strengthen my legs and butt when riding my outside bike. I am a 51 year old female and have amazed doctors with my heartrate recovery time on the two treadmill tests I've had. I know it is because of this indoor bicycle. Not sure if it is still available, but I got a book stand that attaches to the cyclometer stand. Good novels have kept me entertained enough to ride sometimes for an hour at a time, ( but usually ride for 45 minutes). Without the book stand, I must be honest and say that riding this would be very boring. Shorter workouts using interval training will get your heart stronger in no time. Ear plugs are helpful as the Airdyne is noisy. To reduce the wind, I stuck strands of duct tape on the wheel frame to direct some of the wind off my face. The bike is very easy to move around simply by tipping it up on the front wheels and sliding it wherever you want. I am looking to replace my Airdyne as too many parts have been replaced and it is truly on its last leg. You will definitely gain strength in your heart, lungs, glutes, quads and hamstrings by using this bike regularly.

Summary: Built like the pyramids!! 2010-01-20
Comment: Look, there is no other way to say this: if you want a machine that will last decades, give you as much of a workout as you're up to at a reasonable price the Airdyne is it. We have owned one for thirty years and it is still going. Just bought another for our winter place. I don't recall EVER having a problem with the old one; perhaps I had to tighten something now and then but don't recall. And do NOT be put off by people who say it is too difficult to assemble-it is not. If you have NO mechanical skill at all ask a friend....its not that hard. Grab some cheap open end wrenches, particularly a 7/8", and maybe a pair of vice grips or slip joint pliers and you are good to go. It is easier if TWO people do the job.
Saddest aspect of the AirDyne story is the way it has been treated by the company responsible for it. Much as they try they cannot kill off this durable, dependable and useful product. Sure the assembly instructions could be better but you'll get it done. Phooey on the corporate ding-dongs who won't support this great product; they won't even tell you that you can't buy if from a dealer down the street.
Get out there and use this machine. You'll love it. Your cardiologist will probably hate it....but what do you care, you;ll probably outlive him!!

Summary: One of the best cardio machines of all time 2010-01-05
Comment: I've owned two over the years. I've actually just sold my last one but still feel compelled to tell how great it is. I've owned an airdyne for the last ten years and when i was a cyclist I used it regularly. It always perfomed flawlessly and is built to withstand a nuclear blast. Push/Pull action can really get the heart rate up even if you are fit. They've been building it for decades unchanged for a reason.

Summary: Excellent 2010-01-05
Comment: The Schwinn Airdyne is one of the most complete exercises a person can do for over all fitness. Obviously it provides a dual workout using the upper and lower body. I use it to prepare for the winter ski season and the summer hiking/peak bagging season. The aerobic conditioning is top notch, and Dr. Ken Cooper (Aerobics, 1968) stated in his 1982 book (The Aerobics Program for Total Well Being) that the Airdyne was one of the best, if not the best ergonomic machine to use for conditioning.

I bought mine from a Schwinn store and it arrived assembled. In 6 years I have taken it in twice for a "tune up". But structurally the equipment is sound and there hasn't been major issues. I ride the Airdyne 3-4 times a week, usually for 30 minutes and when I use it regularly I can get my resting heart rate from the mid 70's to the 50's.
