Amazon.com Product Review

The flagship product of the Schwinn IC lineup, the Schwinn A.C. Performance indoor cycle trainer delivers the real-life cycling feel of an outdoor bike but in a controlled, hard-pedaling indoor environment. The A.C. Performance is equipped with Virtual Contact resistance technology, an innovative system that employs magnets and an aluminum disk to generate resistance. This not only creates a tough, high-energy workout, but it also keeps the brake system from wearing out, helping the trainer hold up to long-term use. Furthermore, the chain-drive system and extra-large flywheel make it possible to adjust the resistance levels in continuous increments, making the pedaling feel smooth and authentic, just like riding on an undulating hill. And riders will love the dual-density saddle, which is fixed in some areas and flexible in others. This creates the ideal combination of comfort and stability, especially in conjunction with the horizontal and vertical seat adjustment.

The A.C. Performance indoor cycle trainer creates a smooth and authentic cycling experience.
The A.C. Performance also includes the usual combination of high-quality components and convenience features, including three-position adjustable handlebars with dual oversized water bottle holders, SPD toe-clip pedals, and integrated rollers for easy transport. Other details include a tough aluminum frame; a Smart Release safety system that slows the flywheel when you stop pedaling abruptly; and a 300-pound capacity.

I have been spinning for about 8 years on a multitude of bikes. I bought this bike on the recommendation of one of the country's best spin instructors (not exaggerating). It's awesome. Very good feel of the wheel turn, great adjustability-- hight, forward, backward, super comfortable saddle, easy to maintain, love the resistance variability, etc. I could go on and on. I'm guessing people who love this bike are too busy spinning to write the kinds of awesome reviews this bike deserves and generally receives on other sites.

After setting it up according to the manual, the last step was to insure that the smart release is set properly to allow for you to stop with the wheel still moving. I went back looking for a flat panel-looking tool (smart release adjuster) and it was not there. Seems like its not included purposefully... makes no sense so I will have to call them.

Back to the bike. Now I dont know if this is due to the smart release not set up right or perhaps because I never used a spin bike before but it is NOISY and VIBRATING. You hear this mechanical belt sound and you get a lot of vibration sitting on the bike. I dont know where the vibration is coming from or if its normal.
HOWEVER, it goes against the claim that this is a smooth ride. There is nothing smooth about it.

UPDATE: I found out from a youtube video that it is normal for it to sound the way it does (even if it is a magnetic brake spin bike). This is because of the chain rather than the brake. I found out...Read more

I have not used the product yet. It just came in and was missing the Smart Release Adjusting Tool, and now I have to figure out how to get this tool before I can use the product.
