Summary: The Perfect Reclining Bike 2008-07-08
Comment: I bought this bike in 2007 after having a fusion in my back. I had researched other recliners in depth, and read that this had all of the necessary functions with good craftsmanship. I am so happy with the bike, even after 2 years of constant use.
The assembly took about 2 hours with 2 people, but we had no glitches putting it together. The instructions are very straightforward as all of the bits and pieces come mapped out and wrapped sequentially in the order that they get assembled. The bike also functions perfectly. It's a smooth ride; absolutely quiet; the seat is well-padded and very comfortable on my toosh and my back; the seat adjuster is easy to move; the display has many different functions to choose from, and is easy to operate; the drink holder is handy; and, the bike really doesn't take up that much room as some of the others I saw. This is a great deal for a great product!!

Comment: I am satisfied with the performance of this product so far: I have only had it for three weeks. The delivery was acceptable and included placement of the heavy package where I directed in my home, but packaging was inadequate, with both the container and styrofoam suffering damage in shipment. The product itself appears to have not been damaged by these packaging failures. Assembly was relatively easy, as all tools were provided and the instructions were straightforward. The operating manual leaves a lot to be desired: The bike includes a computerized control system with several operating and feedback functions capable of being set for any desired exercise program. The instructions do not make clear how the system should be set to control these functions in stages over a user defined "manual" exercise routine, nor how the feedback limits should be set for use with the pre-programmed routines. Despite this, the pre-programmed routines provide a user friendly approach to exercise. Health constraints have barred me from running, free weights, walking and finally my upright exercise bike, so I am very pleased that I can now get a strenuous cardio-vascular workout with the Schwinn recumbent. The one consideration I would recommend for those with physical limitations to movement, is to find a model that does not require the ability to mount by stepping over a 22-inch high structure.

Summary: The bike is excellent, but beware of delivery! 2008-06-24
Comment: This bike is amazing...easy to put together...quiet....and easy to use. I needed a bike to use every day since I had my knee replaced. This is the bike for me!! However, the delivery was upsetting. The delivery man refused to put the package on my porch. He said he had to leave it at the curb....I live on a very busy street where there are two schools. I begged him to please just put it in my yard. He claimed it was just too heavy, but finally, I convinced him to leave it on my porch. It was quite an experience! But, now that the bike is in my family room, and riding it daily....I am really pleased with the product!!

Summary: Great Machine with Annoyances 2008-06-21
Comment: I received the 203 from Amazon a week before their estimated arrival date. The heavy box (over 100 lbs packed) arrived undamaged, unlike the experiences of some other users. All the parts were separately wrapped and nothing was missing.
Assembly took me about 2.5 hours. Sometimes the instructions were clear, sometimes they were gibberish. The tools needed are supplied, that's great because I don't keep tools in the apartment. If you can, have someone help you assemble the thing: too many times, three hands are required to get things done efficiently. As it was only me, I was bent like a pretzel sometimes trying to get things in place.
I should note that the instructions came with an "addendum" that replaces step 4. This may have been in response to some of the complaints. I also had a bag of parts left over. Hmmm. Never mentioned, they look innocent enough... Thankfully, they don't seem to do anything!
Once assembled, the bike is fantastic. All the electronic gizmos worked as advertised. The heart rate monitor takes about 30 seconds to come up to the real value and requires both hands on the sensor. For me, that's OK as I find it comfortable to place them there anyway.
The seat adjustment is perfect and should accommodate almost anyone. I am amazed at how quiet it is! In fact, this is the quietest machine I've ever used. People in the same room won't even know its running (excluding noises from the user). The range of resistance should keep the machine valuable for a very long time.
The machine is sturdy for home equipment, comfortable, and smooth. The users guide leaves a lot to be desired so learning to use the computer is pretty much left to your imagination. Annoying but not too difficult.
Overall, this is an excellent machine. If you are not an engineer, the assembly might be a bit problematic. Highly recommended.

Comment: Good quality stationary bike exactly as described and shown.
Well packed, arrived as predicted, on time and I even received personal assistance from shipper on questions and arrangements for an appointment to deliver.
This is so quiet you can hardly hear it when it is in use.
The rack for propping up a book to read while you are spinning does not hold more than a thin magazine or newspaper. Books push against the buttons causing the program to change.
Otherwise Excellent!
