About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Summary: Never buy another schwinn! 2010-06-27
Comment: We have a C130 upright less than 3 years old. The resistence died. Called their customer service and they'll send someone out for over a hundred bucks to look at it, order the part and then charge us another $75 to come back and install it. After a lot of research -- the schwinn site is useless for support info -- found an aftermarket parts and repair site and it looks like the unit we'd need to fix this is >$400! Can you say R-I-P-O-F-F ?

Summary: GREAT UPRIGHT STATIONARY BIKE 2009-07-21
Comment: My bike arrived today. Because of all the reviews I read re: poor packaging I was somewhat reluctant to order it, but took the chance and so happy I did. The box had no dents or holes and was held together by 2 gripping straps. I think Schwinn got the idea that packaging was poor and changed their shipping techniques, but in any case, it was in perfect condition. This is the exact same bike my physical therapy group uses. I now do my own physical therapy at home, with my own bike. I had 2 partial knee replacements 3 months ago and the bike is great for my knees, although not all knees do well on bikes. Make sure you can bike with bad or recovering knees before buying any bike. All parts were intact. But I must say that if I didn't have a neighbor who was incredibly mechanically inclined -- didn't even need the directions -- I'd be fumbling around trying to figure out where the parts go. So if you're not good at putting something together, get a friend or neighbor to help you. No extra tools required. And it's as quiet as a mouse. I am so glad I picked this model because it's exactly what I wanted and needed. You won't be disappointed. You can track time, pulse, distance and more!

Summary: Beware of Schwinn 2009-07-20
Comment: If you are looking to buy Schwinn beware of an issue that has plagued many models, the dreaded e-2 error. I have the 112 and have been fighting this issue for four years (anger will keep you going and from throwing it and my money away). I'm on a fourth motor assembly. I called Schwinn today 7/20/2009 for a fifth and they said they cannot ship me anymore motors, since this last one was just over a year old. I've actually isolated it down to an electronic component called a potentiometer. It's a $3.00 part at Radio Shack, but needs to be matched exactly to the original specification and I can't seem to get the right one. The ones in the bikes are defective. However, after four years of removing and reinstalling motors I'm done. No more Schwinn's or Nautilus, Inc products. If you are looking to buy, beware. This problem has been going on for a long time and who knows if they are still putting these defective products in the new models. I wouldn't waste good money to find out. Go with another brand. The e-2 will burn your money away.

Summary: A quiet, easy-to-assemble & solid bike 2009-06-01
Comment: Yes, the packaging looked as though it had been used for target practice, but the frame is so solid that it survived undamaged. The packaging for the small parts and tools is very nice; they are mounted on a cardboard, sealed with a sheet of plastic, and sorted by the step requiring the parts and clearly labeled with the part number and name. It was a really easy installation, in large part thanks to this, e.g., no need to figure out which bolts where which length. The bike is really quiet and comfortable. The reading rack is okay for magazines, not so good for books, and inadequate for laptop computers, but it does not claim to accommodate the last.

Summary: Nice bike, so far... 2009-04-14
Comment: After reading the previous reviews about shipping damage, I was hesitant to buy this bike. But I really did not want to deal with buying a bike in store, and having to bring it home myself. When the bike arrived 3 days later, (with super saver shipping) I was concerned. The box did have strapping, but that did not prevent a giant hole from being punctured in the side of the box. Thankfully, no pieces were missing, and we assembled the bike in less than 30 minutes. Bike works great, nice variation of workouts; seat could be a bit more comfortable, but looking into a seat cover. So far so good....
