About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

This exercise bike delivers a lot for the money. For someone who simply needs the ability to do simple conditioning, this bike will function well. One note of caution - the packaging will arrive at your doorstep looking like the contents must be totally thrashed. My bike wasn't damaged, but one washer had fallen out through a large hole in the box. Schwinn sent me a replacement promptly. 20 of 20 people found the following review helpful: By Fishngolf (TN) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Schwinn 101 Upright Exercise Bike (Sports) Pros: Performance, small size, quiet. I'm a male of average size/build in early 30s who hasn't really worked out in years, and this bike gave me a good 500 calorie workout right off the bat. It's quiet enough to watch TV at a regular volume while I work out and small enough to easily keep out of the way when not in use. And, although the Schwinn folks can't get me a replacement part anytime soon, the service people are actually located in the US and the rep with whom I dealt was extremely friendly. The computer on the bike is intuitive and works well. Installation wasn't simple but wasn't overly difficult either.
Cons: Packaging, replacement part delivery time. The bike arrived in a box that looked like it had been used to test bombs. The packaging is simply not adequate. The rear stabilizer had a huge dent/scratch in it but was usable. The part was so bad that the two plastic end parts were both torn to bits (they house the levelers). They are going to replace...Read more 20 of 21 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Schwinn 101 Upright Exercise Bike (Sports) I was actually surprised at how much this bike exceeded my expectations. It's more than quiet, it's SILENT. Very good resistance settings and even a nice variety of programs. The bike is sturdy and easy to put together. It's compact and doesn't take up a lot of room and the seat is also quite comfortable. I couldn't be more happy with this purchase. For those concerned about the shipping issues that were raised, my box had a dent or two, but the contents were fine and there were no missing parts. |
