This review is from: Lifecore LC-850RB Ultra Compact Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) I have no cartilage left in my knees. There are studies that show that repetitive motions like cycling at 70-90 RPM rebuilds the cartilage matrix. So I needed a bike. I don't go to the gym, and figured a membership to the gym around the corner would cost about $100 a month. I figured my budget based on a year of gym memberships - $1200. I wanted to spend less - but that was my price range.
I started at SEARS and found a perfectly acceptable bike there for around $500 and then looked it up online, the Nautilus Recumbent R514 and that looked pretty great. And it was almost 1/3 of what I had to spend. I also looked at the Schwinn 240 which was a bit less expensive and had a cool video game console! That kind of grabbed my attention. LOL But I wanted a bike that would be professional commercial gym quality, that was silent and that would last for 30 years. And for that, you do have to crank up the pricing. So I dug into the StarTrac and LifeSpan R3...Read more 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Lifecore LC-850RB Ultra Compact Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) I looked at several recumbent bikes before settling on this one. It came a couple of days ago and I assembled it yesterday with no problems. All tools required are included with the bike although you might want to use an adjustable wrench on the pedals. I had read several reviews about how quiet the bike is but they understate it. It makes no noise whatsoever. This bike is solid - not like the cheap stuff you find at most sporting goods stores. The seat does not rock like some I have used. The control panel looks great and gives you all the information you would want (just like the ones you use at health clubs). All in all I could not be more pleased with this purchase. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Lifecore LC-850RB Ultra Compact Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) First the panel would not turn off and the local company I bought it from came out to replace it. They had a hard time figuring it out how to turn it off the new panel, but finally figured it out. There is no owner's manual to speak of so you're on your own.
I used it daily for the first three weeks and now I am getting a sharp pain on the outside of my left knee. The seat really hurt my lower 'tailbone' right from the start. I'm hoping it will go away. Now this evening I noticed that the large seat is hitting the back of my legs when I pedal and that is starting to hurt. It took me a long time to find a bike build for a petite woman. Thought I'd found one, but apparently not. Now hoping I can return it. |
